Southridge Behavioral Hospital Construction Commences in West Michigan
UHS and Trinity Health Michigan recently broke ground on Southridge Behavioral Hospital, bringing us one step closer to bridging the gap in behavioral healthcare in the greater Grand Rapids area.
“Demand for high-quality behavioral health continues to increase across the U.S. as a result of many factors including the pandemic. We are proud to work closely with Trinity Health to bring forth a solution to this issue,” said Kerry Knott, Senior VP, Western Region, UHS Behavioral Health Division. “Today’s ceremonial groundbreaking brings us one step closer to impacting the behavioral health needs of this community. This best-in-class inpatient facility will be a safe space where healing can begin. We are eager to proceed and deliver on our promise to bring new, enhanced behavioral health services to West Michigan.”

“Southridge Behavioral Hospital will help address the growing need for high-quality mental and behavioral health care services for people struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use and other issues, and who need hospitalization and intensive individualized care,” said Matt Biersack, MD, President of Trinity Health Grand Rapids. “Southridge represents a sustainable, long-term solution and it will be a key piece of the behavioral health care continuum in West Michigan.”
Expected to open in 2025, the new Southridge Behavioral Hospital will accommodate up to 96 beds, serving adult and geriatric patients.
