Clive Behavioral Health Opened in Clive, Iowa

The new state-of-the-art 100-bed behavioral health hospital spans more than 83,000 square feet, featuring a one-story clinical and support services area, and a three-story unit for inpatient and outpatient services. The new facility, UHS’ first in the state of Iowa, offers a full continuum of inpatient services, including units to serve children and adolescents and specialty programs for adults with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues, to meet the unique needs of this patient population. Southeast Behavioral Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Admit First Patient March 22

Featuring a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, the newly opened facility includes a geriatric unit, two adult care units, and a child and adolescent unit. Southeast Behavioral Hospital, a joint venture partnership between UHS and SoutheastHEALTH, will invest in medical residencies, clinical training and the latest in telehealth technology to bridge the gap in access. In addition, the facility offers robust outpatient programs to address the most prevalent mental health concerns, including child, adolescent and family counseling; and treatment for depression, anxiety disorders and other common mental health issues. Centennial Hills Hospital Opens New 36-Bed Nursing Unit

Centennial Hills Hospital increased its licensed bed capacity to 336 beds following the approval of a 36-bed medical surgical nursing unit expansion by the State of Nevada on December 16, 2020. Patients were admitted to the new unit that same day. Currently, the nursing unit is being used for patients who need medical/surgical and intermediate-level medical care, with future plans to use it as a dedicated orthopedic nursing unit with its own therapy gym. The opening of the new unit occurred approximately five weeks after the opening of a 36-suite mother-baby (postpartum) unit located on the second floor of the new tower. The addition of the new tower also includes plans for an expanded inpatient pharmacy, laboratory, surgical services and post-anesthesia care unit. Get more information about the new tower →

El Paso Behavioral Health Opens New Outpatient Location

El Paso Behavioral Health Systems recently opened a new outpatient location across from the main facility. The new outpatient program offers two levels of care: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), providing specialized treatment for youth and adults to meet the needs of the El Paso community. Throughout the program, El Paso will collaborate with patients’ families and loved ones, establishing a treatment plan that meets the mental health specific to their developmental stage. For the adult population, El Paso offers specialized groups to meet the diverse needs within the community including Women’s Only, Chemical Dependency, Medication Assisted Treatment, Geriatric, and General Adult Psychiatric Groups. In these programs, patients gain valuable coping skills and insight into their mental health issues within a supportive and structured environment.

North Spring Behavioral Healthcare Opens New 24-Bed Inpatient Acute Unit

North Spring Behavioral Healthcare has expanded its Inpatient Acute Hospital designed for behavioral health care treatment of children and adolescents in crisis. On Friday, February 5, a new wing opened and began accepting new patients. Originally constructed as a 16-bed unit in 2015, the new wing includes an additional 24 beds between two units with capacities of 8 and 16. The Hospital is now able to serve a total of 40 patients ages 7-17. In addition to the two units, the wing features several new offices, rooms for admissions, consult and visitation, two large programming areas with outdoor courtyards for recreation, a gymnasium, dining room, nursing station, and multiple areas specifically designed for individual, group and family therapy. The Hospital lobby was also remodeled allowing increased space and an additional parking lot was constructed.

Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents to Open New 16-Bed Inpatient Acute Unit

Currently under construction and scheduled to open in early April, Cumberland Hospital’s new 16-bed psychiatric inpatient acute care unit will provide immediate care for children and adolescents who are struggling with serious medical conditions and also need acute psychiatric stabilization. This new psychiatric acute care unit will offer a treatment program that includes diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, brief cognitive and behavioral interventions and community education for children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 17.

ER Valley Vista groundbreaking

Groundbreaking for the New ER at Valley Vista

Centennial Hills Hospital recently held a groundbreaking for the new ER at Valley Vista, the hospital’s first 24-hour freestanding emergency department. The ER at Valley Vista will be an extension of the hospital’s existing emergency department when it opens in late 2021.

The ER at Valley Vista will feature six treatment rooms with an additional three rapid medical exam rooms, advanced imaging services, an on-site laboratory and a decontamination room with showers.

The groundbreaking of the ER at Valley Vista follows the completion of Centennial Hills Hospital’s $95 million patient care tower.

STHS Edinburg groundbreaking

South Texas Health System Edinburg Breaks Ground on New Patient Tower

On December 17, 2020, South Texas Health System Edinburg held a groundbreaking ceremony on the hospital’s campus for a new five-story, $100 million patient tower. The expansion project, anticipated to be complete in Summer of 2022 will add 59 adult beds, increasing STHS Edinburg’s total adult bed count to 202, with an additional 55 adult beds shelled out for future growth needs. The project also includes an enhanced Emergency Department — a replacement of the existing one at the facility — with 16 treatment bays, including two trauma rooms. Of the 59 new adult service beds being added through the expansion on day one, 16 will be dedicated to a new Intensive Care Unit and 28 will be part of an Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation program that includes a new rehab gym.
